Every time you people try this kind of repression, I smash your ‘order’ with disorder, your ‘rules’ with unruliness, and your ‘reason’ with emotion.
Get with it, humans! In 405 BC, Euripides wrote a play about me. I destroyed a city with a little help from my gal-pals – a horde of frenzied women who were royally p.o.’d with the king.

Violence and religion go waaaaay back, but our new adaptation of The Bacchae illustrates a way to depose a tyrant without violence!
We are making the appropriate sacrifices, and consulting the priests of Dionysus. It’s our belief that if we placate him with wine, revels, and music, he will overthrow tyranny WITHOUT tearing people – or lions, or cows – limb from limb. So keep calm, and let us carry on.
Son of Zeus and Semele, Dionysus is the God of Drunkenness, Parties, and Theatre. He is the patron of orgiastic revelry and cross-dressing. Although he frequently hangs out in the wilderness, when arriving at parties he likes to make an entrance in a chariot drawn by leopards. When peeved, he visits destructive insanity and hallucinations on those foolish enough to cross him. His hobbies include Bacchic Frenzy, winemaking and indiscriminate sex with all genders. He doesn’t judge!
