So it wasn’t home-town boosterism that led me to take the round trip on a Bolt Bus to see Studio Six’s version (and the American premier) of Evgeny Grishkovets’ Winter at the Gene Frankel Theatre on Bond Street. Their adaptation of Dostoevskii’s Possessed – brilliantly directed by Russian expat Alexei Marine – had lots going for it, especially the vision supplied by Marine himself. Winter, to my mind, was all about the acting: the tight ensemble of American actors who spent four years together training at Moscow Art Theatre School.
The Studio Six production of Winter runs thru Oct 2, 2011 at The Gene Frankel Theater, 24 Bond St, NYC.

Any chance they will be coming back to Baltimore? Their adaptation of Possessed was one of the most gripping pieces of theater I’ve ever seen! And much more innovative than Peter Stein’s 12 hour adaptation on Governor’s Island last year. I wish I had the time to hop on the Bolt bus to see this. Instead here’s an internet voice calling for Studio Six to return to Theatre Project! Thanks for the review, John!
