Aug 18, 2010 — As the chance to register to vote in this year’s Audience Choice Awards draws to a close – deadline is tonight at midnight – we are getting a lot of questions from readers confused by our new voting procedure. Since we don’t want anyone to be disappointed, we’ll do our best to answer all questions here.
Who are we voting for?
You can preview the list of nominees here. When you vote, you will find all the nominees listed by category, just as they appear on that page. To help get ready to vote, you might want to check out the discussions we have been having, shown on our central page for the Awards here or click on our ad for the Awards in the right hand column.
Who can vote?
Voting is open to everyone in the Washington area. We will send invitations to all those who register to vote. We ask that each person vote only once through a single email address.
How do I get the invitation?
By Friday morning, August 20th, invitations to vote will be sent to all active subscribers to the DC Theatre Scene newsletter. The email will contain each person’s private link to the voting page.
Already a subscriber?
If you are already a subscriber to the DC Theatre Scene newsletter, AND received a newsletter from us yesterday, relax. You are on our list. Check your inbox Friday morning for the invitation.
Subscribed but haven’t received an emailed newsletter?
If you think you are a subscriber, but didn’t receive a newsletter yesterday, it means your subscription has not been activated. Check your inbox for an email titled: ‘Activate your Email Subscription to: DC Theatre Scene’, click the link and you will become an active subscriber. If you don’t find it, re-subscribe.
Still need to register?
Here’s the sign-up for the DCTS newsletter.
Once you complete the above form, you will be sent an email verification. Be sure to click the verify link in order to activate your subscription.
How long do I have to vote?
Voting opens Friday, August 20th and closes Thursday, August 26th. We will announce the results on Friday, August 27th.
If you have any questions or difficulties, send an email here. If you think it is a general question that others might have, we suggest you ask it in the Comments section.
